Laponite, a synthetic layered silicate is a unique speciality additive, which improves the performance and properties of a wide range of industrial and consumer products making them more valuable to your customers. There are two key areas of functional use for Laponite.

• As a rheology modifier – Laponite may be added to the formulation of many waterborne products such as surface coatings, household cleaners and personal care products. It will impart thixotropic, shear sensitive viscosity and improve stability and syneresis control.

• As a film former - Laponite is a film forming agent and is used to produce electrically conductive, antistatic and barrier coatings.

Rockwood is continuing to develop the Laponite product range to enhance its performance, consistency and breadth of application. Guideline formulations showing the extensive application range and versatility of Laponite are available from us. In partnership with our customers we are dedicated to ensuring that formulations containing Laponite will consistently offer tangible advantages to their users.

Advantages that can enhance the performance and increase the value of your products.

Product Spotlight
OPTIFLO® L1400
OPTIFLO® L1400 is a hydrophobically modified associative thickening polymer that was designed to efficiently thicken acrylic, styrene/acrylic, and vinyl acetate copolymer latex paint systems. OPTIFLO® L1400 typically exhibits 30 – 40% higher ICI viscosity at equal addition than other traditionally used ICI drivers. In-can stability can also be improved by the addition of OPTIFLO® L1400 to latex paint formulations.
